PREVIEW: Sifaka Sessions #001 – St Paddys

On this Friday 17th March, you can find a safe haven from most of the drunken Irish craziness of St Patrick’s Day at Hyde Park Book Club for the first – hopefully of many – Sifaka Sessions.

Established by local Leeds band Sifaka, who played an amazing set in Book Club’s very small performance room less than a month ago, this long night will showcase not just their African inspired blues, which BBC Introducing has labelled “pretty jazzy, pretty different, pretty cool”, but also two other local bands.

Joining the line-up will be: chilled jazz-folk fusion band, Kumiko, for whom the lead vocalist has been a feature on the amazing Girls That Gig podcast (https://soundcloud.com/girlsthatgig/frankiepidgon), and ‘60s inspired ‘tropical rockers’ The Seagulls, a band whose latest single Happy is a little melancholic masterpiece.

The Session is just £5 for entry and free for refugees and asylum seekers, so why not do something a little different this St Paddy’s day?
