The first time I was back in Leeds since going on my year abroad, my friends and I went to a street party as part of Pride at Viaduct Showbar , and it was so sunny and fun

What’s a society you think people should know about?
Italsoc, I’m slightly biased as I used to be president but they organise good food meet-ups and trips to Italy!

What’s an event next week you’re excited to go to?
There is a clothes exchange at Woodhouse community centre which is really cute and sustainable , I’ve never been before but I’m really looking forward to it

What’s you’re favourite predrink drink?
A nice Italian white wine, after my year in Italy I have become a bit of a snob ..I still buy my wine from Asda but one of the fancy range

Charlotte, 19, Psychology, Year 2

What’s your most potent memory of Leeds?
I was put in accommodation I didn’t want to be in (IQ) so when I came to uni, I was really nervous cause I didn’t really know anyone. I remember when I first came to uni I was overwhelmed by how many people there were, how friendly and welcoming everyone was and how easy it was to socialise cause its such a sociable city

What’s a society you think people should know about?
Psychology society. We have loads of socials and go out every couple of weeks. I was going to join cheerleader society cause I was a cheerleader before I came but, didn’t get a chance to

What’s an event next week you’re excited to go to?
I’m going to Cirque on Saturday (21st October), and I’m going to flux for Halloween too

What’s you’re favourite predrink drink?
It’s normally vodka lime and soda

Lizzie Anna Wilder, 21, Japanese and French, Year 4

Limor Ross, 19, Philosophy and Politics, Year 2

What’s your most potent memory of Leeds?
Running the Tough 10K for Cancer Research UK through Roundhay Park on an organised charity event. The feeling of running with so many other people for such a great cause was great. The sense of community in Leeds is so strong, as well as when I was fundraising. I have never felt so uplifted and it’s a memory I will never forget.

What’s a society you think people should know about?
HOMED – it’s a society that volunteers with helping homeless people in the city of Leeds. I think it’s really important that people are aware of social action opportunities available through uni so that we can make a difference to the lives of the less fortunate.

Sauvignon Blanc, 11.5%, only £5.50 in 24hr Sainsbury’s.

Hikari Owan, 23, Chinese and East Asian Studies

What’s your most potent memory of Leeds?
Going to Leeds Kirkgate Market for the first time, the people there could be opera singers the way they shout! It’s so fun and lively, plus the food is really cheap

What’s a society you think people should know about?
Hiking Society, I haven’t joined yet but I will, it sounds really interesting

What’s an event next week you’re excited to go to?
Hiking to Robin Hood’s Bay with the Japanese society (JapSoc)

What’s you’re favourite predrink drink?
I’m not much of a drinker so I like Ginger Ale

George Miley, 20, Philosophy and Politics, Year 2

What’s your most potent memory of Leeds?
I thought it as a sh*thole to be honest, I thought it was so grey and evil looking and I hated it. I think Leeds is a really cool place now but you have to explore because the uni area itself is really small and confined, otherwise if you don’t explore you’ll only interact with students which I find very odd. I’d recommend going into pubs and bars in town, or even Hyde park book club in Headingly

What’s a society you think people should know about?
I’ve joined no societies

What’s an event next week you’re excited to go to?
A house party with a ridiculous theme in Hyde park somewhere

What’s you’re favourite predrink drink?
Gin and tonic, a classic g&t always
